The new year just started and January is just about over! What does that mean? Valentine’s day is just around the corner. I’m going, to be honest with you. The idea of your boyfriend or girlfriend being your valentine just doesn’t resonate with me. What I have here is the best Valentine’s Day gift for your best friend, your mother, your aunt, your grandmother, your girlfriend, etc… Trust me, you won’t need anything else.
Who can celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Back when in high school, I remember hating Valentine’s day because I wasn’t allowed to date or have a boyfriend. This was the one day when students were allowed to have their significant others bring flowers and gifts to the school.
Our school changed the idea of Valentine’s day to Student Appreciation Day. That changed my outlook on V’day forever! I made it into a day to celebrate all of my loved ones, my closest support, and my dear ones, as a day of appreciation. Therefore, anyone can celebrate Valentine’s day and make it into whatever they want. But the idea is simple: share love and appreciate those around you, that have always showered love on you.
The Best Valentine’s Day Gift: Appreciation
One of my ideas for the best Valentine’s day gift ever, won’t cost you a single dime. It’ll cost you some of your time though.
Plan a day for someone you love. Make them a meal. Do something for someone you love.
While I’m in Mumbai for the better part of the year, my best friend takes care of any issues I face with my mail, and bills, and even takes care of my parents! She’s my best friend and I treat her like my elder sister. For Valentine’s day, in my opinion, the best gift would be to take time out and do something for her. Whether it’s a meal, helping her with her work, or cleaning up her place, it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg!
Valentine’s Day has turned into a day where we spend insane amounts of money, trying to outdo each other when it comes to expensive gifts. The next day we go back to being our “normal” selves.
It’s just like at the grocery store. February 15th is the day everything goes back to normal and all Valentine’s day products are on clearance.
The Best Valentine’s Gift: Make a Tradition!
One of the sweetest things you can do is to make a tradition every Valentine’s day to do something for those you love. Memories make the best Valentine’s day gifts because they’re so valuable! You can’t place a price on love. It can be something as simple as watching a movie together, having a spa day at home with your best friends, making dinner, baking some cakes, etc…
For example, what I would do with my best friend is grab a couple of sheet masks, and some snacks, watch Netflix, and just chill. While it sounds simple (and cheap), it’s something we look forward to because it’s about spending time with those that matter.
Change the focus from spending money to spending time with those you love.
But if you’re going to spend money and want to turn this day into a tradition…
The Best Valentine’s Day Gift: Jewelry
Jewelry is the most commonly given Valentine’s day gift along with chocolate and flowers. While there’s nothing wrong with the idea, I feel combining memories and meaning with jewelry is a sure hit. My recommendation is Pandora.
I know. It’s so common!
Actually, it doesn’t have to be. Their new 2023 collection has something called the Pandora Moments Studded bracelet. A new take on the traditional snake chain bracelet, this one offers a beautiful infinity, the heart-shaped clasp that is beautiful enough to wear as the centerpiece of your bracelet. You don’t need a charm for this one, just stack it with your favorite pieces!
The “studs” on this bracelet offer a bit of texture and allows you to wear it without any charms. If you’re going to give a Pandora bracelet, why not one that’s different from the rest?
The bracelet has two hinges for clips and might I suggest, the Infinite Hearts Sparkling Clip Charms for the hinges and a padlock heart charm for the center of the bracelet. Simple and elegant!
You can turn this gift into a tradition by purchasing a new heart-themed charm every year to commemorate your relationship. A gift means more when it has a meaning behind it.
Get creative!
Besides shopping at Pandora, there are other shops like Gnoce for example that can customize your charms and they’re compatible with Pandora bracelets (Pandora moments). Gnoce and Ohm are two of my favorite brands when it comes to quirky, creative, and unique-looking charms.
If you don’t want to do a bracelet, Pandora offers bag charms and key rings as well! Key rings are great for gifting to a guy friend or an important man in your life. These are also made of sterling silver so they make great keepsakes! Each keyring can hold about 2-3 charms depending on the size.
Mix and match your beads from Gnoce and Ohm to make your piece even more unique!
Custom Clothing
One of my favorite things to do is to design a custom T-shirt or hoodie, using Spreadshirt. You can customize pretty much anything on the site, from face masks to clothing! They have all sorts of materials, from moisture-wicking to 100% cotton, so there’s something for everyone.
Custom Jewelry
If you check out my older post, I’ve described how you can create custom fine jewelry for half (or more) of the price of an original branded piece. For example, everyone loves the Cartier love ring but can’t afford to drop thousands of dollars on it. My blog post describes how you can get it for under $1000, brand new and customized!
Personalized jewelry can never fail when it comes to a Valentine’s Day gift.
In the end, it comes down to personal preference. If it’s your first Valentine’s day with your special someone, you might find a card and some chocolate is the best way to go! Go for it! But if you’re looking for ideas, for someone that you’ve known for a while, or for someone really near and dear, think about what we talked about. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Create memories and build on them! Because in the end, the best Valentine’s Day gift is: love. Spread love, not hate.
What are your plans for this Valentine’s Day?
